Once you have seen us, and we have determined that you are dentally fit to have teeth whitening then it is a treatment that is suitable for most people.
Generally though, the new tooth shade is stable for around a 12 month.
We recommend purchasing a syringe or two of whitening gel to help you top up the shade by whitening two to three nights every three months. If you do this then the whiteness will last and last.
We will check it’s suitability for you first and talk you through how to use the gels safely.
It’s a prescription only treatment by law because there are some internet available options which are really dangerous to your tooth tissue if used incorrectly.
If speed is of the essence for you then a Phillips Zoom appointment is best. It gives similar results to our take home system but delivered by us and you at home to speed things up.
However and on rare occasions a patient will have to stop the process of whitening until their teeth have settled down a little.
The Enlighten Evo4 whitening system is best for minimising sensitivity.

Speedier than the other whitening options but big on results. Zoom Whitening involves both ‘in-surgery’ and at home / office whitening. We are currently not able to offer this treatment, but we will let you know as soon as it is back as an option.
What to expect when getting your Teeth Whitened in Cardiff
The process of getting your teeth whitened can be relatively quick depending on the type of treatment you choose.
All of our teeth whitening procedures are tailored to your specific needs. Typically, the process will be as follows:
Initial consultation
We’ll speak to you about your needs and expectations, as well as assess your current oral health, and determine your suitability for whitening. We may well take photos of your teeth before performing a 3D scan of your teeth and gums.
Cleaning
Any plaque or tartar can affect the efficacy of your whitening, so we advise having your teeth professionally cleaned for the best teeth whitening results. We can arrange this.
Starting the whitening treatment
Depending on which of our three whitening treatments you go for, you will be given a whitening fit appointment which may be as straight forward as checking the whitening trays fit, and demonstrating how to use the whitening gel before allowing you home to perform this at your own leisure, or if you have chosen the Phillips Zoom system the whitening fit appointment will consist of us applying the gel to the teeth before then you complete the treatment at home at your own pace.
Waiting and evaluation
If you are undergoing the Phillips Zoom whitening treatment, there will be a waiting period for the ‘in chair’ whitening to take effect. This can take up to an hour.
After any whitening work your teeth and gums may be sensitive, so we’ll give you instructions on dealing with this and aftercare advice to maintain your pearly whites, before you finish the procedure off yourself at home in approximately 3-5 days.
At-home maintenance
For those undergoing at-home treatment, we’ll provide you with custom-fitted trays and whitening gel for even whiter whites, or at-home touch-ups. This is true for our Professional take home whitening and our Enlighten Evo4 whitening.

If you’re new to whitening, it can be difficult to understand whether to use a take-home kit, have in-chair whitening, or explore some of the alternative whitening services.
