Hi Jake! We hope you’re well, its been a while since we saw you last. Tell us, what made you opt for Invisalign originally?
I started the Invisalign treatment when I was still in second year. I was fast approaching my year abroad in Bordeaux, and I wanted to look my best for when I moved. It felt like a fresh start was approaching, and I wanted to overcome something which was really holding back my confidence my smile. I was scared I would still have braces when I moved out there, so I wanted a fast and discreet treatment. It only took a few searches into Google to realise that Invisalign was the option everyone seemed to be going for. What I really liked about Invisalign was how the aligners just looked like gum shields but could make such a big difference.
Tell us a bit about living with Invisalign.
I’m not going to lie, it was a big strange at first. I play rugby so I’m used to gum shields, but having these aligners in 24/7 was something I had to get used to at first. However, they’re really comfortable all things considered. They were designed to fit my teeth. Eating and drinking was no problem whatsoever as I just took them out when was needed. They really are discreet. My uni pals barely noticed I had them in most of the time as they’re almost invisible.
How was your experience at Bamboo? How did Dr. Dan help you through the treatment?
The 3D technology is really cool. You can see on the screen how your smile is going to look the next time you come back. It really is a good feeling a bit like losing weight where you feel progress each time you step on the scales. Dr. Dans a really cool bloke who was always asking me about my studies and we chatted about football a lot. The whole Bamboo team were really encouraging and friendly. It was never chore to go back.
And how does your smile look now? We’re guessing you were happy with your results.
Happy is an understatement. I finished my treatment just days before moving to Bordeaux. It was a bit tight time wise but that was my fault. My teeth are super straight now. When I first moved here, every time I met people, they commented on my teeth and they obviously never knew me before when I had wonkier teeth. Its the best feeling. I turned something that was an insecurity into my best feature. I don’t understand why more people don’t do it.
Any words of advice for students who are considering getting Invisalign treatment?
Go for it. I wouldn’t pay up front though. I’d take the finance option, especially if you’re a fresher as you want all the spare cash you can get for beers and pizza! Pay monthly and you’re sorted.
